It's my second
time to experience spring, personally a bittersweet season – a sign of hope yet
otherwise reminds me of humankind's cruelty to nature, read: (I mean read) Rachel Carson's
"Silent Spring", a 60s book that radically exposed indiscriminate use
of pesiticides e.g. DDT post-WWII, resulting in a deafening silence iykwim.
Currently,
I'm spending the spring sem working on yet another environmental poison i.e.
PFAS, wc to some extent brings in extra motivation, hence this tribute, a
glimpse of the lovely spring in Lyon, a gift we might soon lose if we don't get
our shits together.
